Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation. It is an amplified state of consciousness (like very focused concentration). It is so natural for the body and mind, that we go into hypnosis various times a day, or at least 2 times a day for sure, if you are someone who sleeps.
Examples of day-to- day hypnosis:
-
Do you ever catch your self staring into space? This is a form of a hypnotic trance.
-
Have you ever been driving, and reach your destination and realize you don’t remember the trip? This is a common example of a hypnotic trance. The police (in the US) even have a name for it, they call this Highway Hypnosis
-
Sometimes when you are so absorbed in a book or a movie or even your work, that you lose track of what is going on around you for a few moments, that’s another common hypnotic trance.
These are all examples of natural occurring hypnotic trance states
As a hypnotherapist, I simply help you get into that state when you desire to be in it, instead of when it overtakes you. And then I use that natural occurring trance state to have easier access to talk to your unconscious mind.
-
Every one has a conscious mind.
-
Everyone has an unconscious mind.
Your unconscious mind runs your body, pretty much like a computer runs a robot. You don’t need to think of those millions of biochemical processes that go on in your body just so you can digest your food.
You don’t have to consciously orchestrate all those complexed electrical impulses that make your heart beat or your muscles move.
Your unconscious mind does all of that for you.
Your conscious mind can think of a max of 9 thoughts per second. In that same second, your unconscious mind is processing 2.3 million bits of data. It’s like having a super computer and trying to download it to a Game Boy, it just is not going to fit !
For example, you probably don’t know how your shoes feel on your feet, until I just called your attention to it. Or maybe your shirt and how it feels on your neck. But now you are aware of those.
Since your unconscious mind cannot download everything, we utilize that trance state to give it help to decide what not to download. And if you ask it in the proper way, it says : Ok, what next? And this is the trick, asking it in the correct way.
Your conscious mind thinks “logically” and communicates through language, like you and I do.
But your unconscious mind doesn’t, your unconscious mind communicates through images in your mind, your imagination, and it isn’t logical.
So if I were to ask you to close your eyes and imagine yourself in your favorite place, maybe at the beach or by the lake… Really get into it really associate into that imagination, see the sight of the waves through your own eyes, hear the waves washing the shore through your own ears, feel the sun and the air on your skin…
The more you can fully associate into the imagination, the stronger the communication with your unconscious mind becomes. It is like tuning into the radio dial to get the clearest signal. And It’s fun, trust me no one will break in and steal your chores or your work for you while you spend a few minutes enjoying your trans session, and also they won’t run away.
I promise they will wait patiently for you!
So you can take the time in each of these sessions to enjoy it and allow yourself to take a mental vacation or spa moment. However, you should prepare yourself to be underwhelmed with your first experience with hypnosis.
A hypnotic trance does feel any differently than you feel now. Sure you will feel more relaxed, but you are always conscious and alert, you are not asleep or unconscious.
You will hear every word that I say, you know exactly what is going on around you, and you don’t have to give up your ability to think. You will continue to think even when you are hypnotized. In fact, most people think they are not in a trance, or they are doing something wrong because they’re still thinking… They’re thinking about what they have to do later, why I am telling the stupid stories that I tell…and this is all perfectly normal.
Only a light level of trance is necessary for the therapy to be effective. Most people prefer deeper trance states because they feel good. It feels good to be deeply relaxed. But achieving deeper trance states is usually a factor of how much you practice, just like when you learn to ride a bicycle, you were not able to ride over rough terrain at first, but with practice you were probably able to ride anywhere you wanted to go. It is the same for trance states, you are never under my control, no matter how deep a trance state you achieve. You will never do anything that violates your values or morals or even your wishes, so you can reject some specific suggestions, and if I made a suggestion that violates your internal moral code, I would expect you to reject it.
So if you don’t feel any differently in a trance, if you can still think, and you can accept or reject suggestions, how does it work?
It works because the highest prime directive of your unconscious mind is the preservation of your body. And the way you are functioning currently, is not in the best interest of your body, therefor if you ask your unconscious mind to run your body in a more appropriate way, in a way that it can understand, then it is usually willing to comply.
And through these sessions, all we are doing is asking your unconscious mind to run your body in a better way. We are helping it fulfill its highest prime directive.
Many people are concerned, that they are weak willed if they are able to go into a hypnotic trance, or on the contrary, that a more strong-willed person is more likely to be successful in hypnosis. Strictly speaking, all hypnosis is self hypnosis the therapist is a glorified tour guide. I can help you get into that trance state, and I know what tours to take you on for your best success, but you are the one who has to go on the tour. And there is no way you can be hypnotized against your will, no matter how well you have learned to go into a hypnotic state, you can always refuse to do so if you desire.
Think of it this way:- You have learned to write, but you don’t have to write unless you wish to. Hypnosis is the same.
It isn’t even necessary for you to believe in hypnosis in order to go into a hypnotic state or for you to be benefited by a hypnotic trance and the suggestions given to your unconscious mind, you must however be willing to go along with the instructions the hypnotherapist gives you.
If hypnosis is not being asleep or unconsciousness, weak or gullible, if it’s not being controlled by someone else, then how does it work so well?
It works so well because the body is like a robot, which means whatever the mind sees, the body tends to do. The body is controlled by the unconscious mind, through strong sensorial experiences, creating in the mind such realistic thoughts that the body reacts physically and biochemically. And this is what the sessions with my program do, they ask your unconscious mind to re-train the systems, the muscles the nerves the fibers and the cells of your body to regain balance and harmony and function normally again.
Hypnosis has the full certification of the American medical association since 1959.
And in many areas of medicine it has been used extensively since then. It is now gaining and growing a popularity daily in the medical field again, because it is not invasive, unlike medications or supplements or needles. It does not violate the integrity of the body, and therefor it is safe. The only known side effects of hypnosis is the stabilizing of blood pressure, meaning the blood pressure will stabilize in the more normal range, you will have a greater sense of wellbeing, your body becomes more stress-free, and of course none of this is negative.
So settle back and allow yourself to enjoy the sessions in my therapy program.
